Supporting Diverse Academic Exploration: Major Exhibition
The Major Exhibition provided diverse opportunities for students to gather information. The event featured 47 booths offering departmental information, career consulting, and explanations about Convergence Majors. These resources are mainly designed to help students shape their academic pathways.
To enhance student engagement, the SLS organized special activities in the Convergence Zone and Blue Marble Zone. In the Convergence Zone, students participated in interactive activities including designing their own majors, creating YouTube content, and receiving major consultations. Next to this area, the Blue Marble Zone featured Blue Marble Major Travel, a game designed to help students explore majors in an approachable way.
Another enjoyable aspect was the reward system for participation. Students could collect stamps by visiting booths and activity zones. After collecting five stamps or completing a stamp bingo, participants could receive a coffee coupon or exchange it for popcorn from the SLS administrative team.
Alongside the various events, the event covered special lectures on both the first and last days, providing practical tips for career development. On the first day, Lee Ju-won, Kim In-hyeop, and Ryu Jong-hyeok delivered lectures about the film industry, international organizations, and personal challenge stories. On the last day, Shin Ye-seo, Lee Sin-young, and Son Won-hyeok presented lectures covering topics of how shaping oneself through the university experience, career development, and quantum technology.

For SLS Students—and Beyond
Although the Major Exhibition was organized by the SLS, it provided career development opportunities for all students, not just those in SLS. SLS is an undeclared major program at Global Campus, where students take a one-year major exploration period before choosing their major in their second year. The event aimed to support students by providing information to help them make better decisions about their future majors.
Hong Choong-seon, the Vice President of the Office of the Provost at Global Campus, expressed the positive outlook, "In addition to supporting SLS students, the event provided academic path development opportunities. Kyung Hee University (KHU) students can use information from the event when considering Convergence Major, Multi-major Program, or Microdegree options." He added, "This aligns with KHU's core educational direction that President Kim Jin-sang mentioned."
Vice President Hong visited the exhibition and participated in an activity at the Convergence Zone.
The participants included not only university students but also high school students. The SLS stated that Susung High School visited the event on the first day. The event provided students with various information, regarding university admission and potential career paths for different majors.
Successful Outcome, but Room for Better Preparation
Participants showed positive reactions to the event. Bae Jae-hyeong, the dean of the SLS, shared his impression, "We tried to improve the event by incorporating various feedback, as this was the first time for Global Campus. Although the second day had fewer visitors than other days, the overall event was completed successfully."
Students also shared positive feedback about the event. Kim Ri-hyeon, an SLS student, remarked, "Honestly, I did not have high expectations beforehand. However, the event provided more diverse activities and useful information than I anticipated. This will likely help me in determining my future major."
Jo Seo-yoon, the Vice-president of the SLS student association, added their view on the event, "Through this exhibition, I truly felt that choosing KHU SLS was worthwhile. I could see that KHU invested significantly in the event, and I received plenty of practical advice that will help with my future career development."
Vice President Hong attributed the event's success to the hard work and preparation of KHU stakeholders. He said, "The event was organized through the efforts of various KHU members. All Global Campus departments participated by running booths, while professors, deans, and graduate students attended the exhibition to provide information." He added, "I hope events like this will continue in the years to come."
While positive views were prevalent, the hasty preparation emerged as a drawback. The Dept. of International College booth team explained that the announcement was shared only five days before the event. "The event began on Monday, but we received the information about the exhibition the previous Wednesday. All materials, participating professors, and booth manager students had organized and prepared during this short period. Other departments also had to set up their booths under the same conditions," they explained.
The KHU Global Campus Major Exhibition ended on a solid note. Beyond offering valuable guidance to undeclared major students, the event had a positive impact on a broader range of students. To continue such positive effects on the career development of the KHU community, sustaining thorough preparation and addressing shortcomings appears to be necessary.
